In Autumn 2023, I was selected for the Art Residency Program run by the Forest in collaboration with Sett Studios. This exhibition shows the work I produced during the residency, mostly large-scale narrative drawings depicting my emotional and personal relationship with different cities, including Paris, Berlin and, above all, Edinburgh where I live and work.
My ink drawings are inspired by bus journeys to Sett Studios, trips to visit family abroad and daily walks around Edinburgh. They draw directly on my experiences, sensations, and feelings, conveying the emotional intensity of urban life. They are the largest drawings I ever made. I experimented with different formats, gestural techniques and types of paper, blurring the lines between urban landscapes and mindscapes.
